WHITMIRE, S.C. — Whitmire(1-3) early season struggles continued on last Friday after falling 40-14 against Greenwood Christian(3-2) at home.

NEWBERRY — On September 11, the Newberry High School girls’ tennis team faced off against Fairfield Central High School at the Oakland Mill Courts. The match started at 6 p.m. when the players started getting warmed up for what was going to be an intense and competitive evening.

BATESBURG, S.C. —Newberry Academy(1-3,0-2 region) is finally in the win column this season. The Eagles beat King Academy(1-3) 26-14 in a road battle on Thursday, Sept. 12 to get their first win of the season.

PROSPERITY, S.C. — Mid-Carolina got their second win of the season in what many would call an upset. The Rebels(2-2) defeated North Central(2-1) 34-13.

CHAPIN, S.C. — For the first time this season, the Newberry Bulldogs had their first true road test out of Newberry County and fell up short. The Bulldogs(2-2) lost to Chapin(4-0) 42-37 on the road in a Thursday night edition of Friday night lights.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina women’s basketball team finally got their visit to the White House on Sept. 10th. Head coach Dawn Staley hoisted her third national championship trophy back in April after completing a perfect season, which was just the 10th in NCAA Women’s Basketball Division I history.

WHITMIRE, S.C. — Week three of the high school football season featured another rivalry game between two Newberry County football programs. Mid-Carolina(1-2) held Whitmire (1-2) scoreless to get their first win of the season. The Rebels beat the Wolverines 28-0 on the road.

PROSPERITY, S.C. — Mid-Carolina(0-2) and Newberry(2-0) High School renewed their longtime rivalry on Friday, August 30. The Bulldogs dominated the Rebels 43-0 to get their second win of the season and held their rivals to shutout for the second consecutive year.

NEWBERRY — Mike Ware Field was packed as football fans filled the stadium to see the highly anticipated week one matchup between Newberry High School and Union County. The Bulldogs(1-0) dominated Union County(0-1) with a lump sided 40-14 win the season opener at home.
