PROSPERITY, S.C. — The Rebels varsity boys’ soccer team is rolling and picked up their seventh win to start the season. Mid-Carolina(7-2, 3-0 region 3-AA) defeated Clinton(0-11, 0-3 region 3-AA) by the score of 5-3 at home on Tuesday, March 24th.
The cold weather in early spring may have played a factor in the slow start between these two teams because the match was scoreless for the opening 30 minutes. The scoring picked up in the last few minutes of the first half. Mid-Carolina led 3-1 at the break. Clinton showed some fight and scored two back-to-back goals midway through the second half to tie the match 3-3. Then, the Rebels would take over late in the match to secure the win.
Cash Knight and Jude Alford dominated for the Rebels. Knight scored three goals and assisted on another one. Alford scored two goals in the game including one to give Mid-Carolina the lead in the second half. Knight then scored a goal in the last three minutes of the match to avoid any chance of a possible Red Devils late comeback.
Mid-Carolina will have a quick turn around, as they will face Saluda at home on March 25th.
