ROCK HILL, S.C. – The South Atlantic Conference named Newberry senior right-hander Matias Marchesini the pitcher of the week on April 30.
Marchesini shined in the Wolves’ 10-0 run rule victory over the Wasps of Emory & Henry Friday night at the Smith Rd. Complex. Matias went 4.2 innings perfectly before going seven innings and only giving up one hit and striking out five batters.
This is the second time this season that Marchesini has earned the weekly honors and the third Wolf to win a conference weekly honor.
The Wolves play in a mid-week non-conference game against the Bobcats of Georgia College Wednesday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. Later this week, they will be in the South Atlantic Conference Tournament at Coker where they will take on the Bulldogs of Wingate Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
