NEWBERRY — The annual Veteran’s Day Parade will be on Saturday, November 11.
The parade’s Grand Marshal will be Vietnam Veteran Phillip Suber. Suber is the son of Georgia Mae Suber, who organized the first Newberry Veteran’s Day Parade over twenty years ago. Phillip Suber has three sons, all of whom followed in his footsteps and joined the military.
American Legion Post 24 and 219 urge all of Newberry’s, or any Veteran in the area, to come and participate in the parade. The parade, as well as the day, is all about Veterans and celebrating them for their sacrifice to keep America safe. Veterans are urged to join the parade. Whether they were deployed or not, four years or twenty, or whatever branch they were in, the day is for and about veterans. Newberry wants to make sure it gives thanks to all of its many veterans.
The parade will start lining up at 9:30 a.m., with an official start at 10 a.m. Those who go out to the parade will see vintage military vehicles, dozens of local veterans, vehicles and more. Following the lunch, there will be a lunch from Ronnie’s that Samsung will host at 11 a.m.
