George Patton “Pat” Waters visits Newberry

NEWBERRY — In honor of Veterans Day, a special event was held featuring the grandson of General Patton, sponsored by the Jasper Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Col. Philemon Waters Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution of Newberry, was held at Newberry College.

Guests were given the opportunity to hear from George Patton “Pat” Waters, the grandson of General George S. Patton.

Waters, who lives in Mount Pleasant, recounted much of the public history and information about his grandfather, with added details shared within his family over the years. He also spoke about personal experiences and memories he had from a fifteen day visit the Patton made to his home when he was five years old. These stories, while entertaining, gave significant insight into General Patton’s personality and dedication to his family and country.
