NEWBERY COUNTY — Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster has announced that there is a new way to register for Code Red Alerts and notifications.
Foster said you if text newberrysc to 99411, you will receive a link to register for Code Red notifications. He encourages those registering to sign up for the managed account so they can select the type of alerts and group messages that they receive.
“It is fast, easy, and free,” said Foster. “During an emergency or crisis, it is imperative that we be able to get information to our citizens, so we encourage the community to enroll today.”
Foster said the text to enroll feature was just another way the Sheriff’s Office was attempting to meet the ever changing way that people communicate in today’s world.
You can receive information from the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office, City of Newberry, Town of Whitmire, and Town of Prosperity and categories such as crime and scam alerts, weather, traffic, school related, and several more alerts. You get to decide what information you receive so the messages are relevant to you.
Foster also said if anyone had issues with registering, they can contact Code Red support or come by the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office for assistance.
