Wolves come up short against Eagles at home

NEWBERRY — At Eleazer Arena, the Newberry College men’s basketball team fell to Carson-Newman University, 65–55, on Saturday afternoon. The Wolves move to 10–16 overall and 6–14 in South Atlantic Conference play. Newberry trailed 29–24 at halftime before Carson-Newman used a 36-point second half to secure the 10-point win.

Houston Jones led the way offensively for the Wolves with 18 points, knocking down six three-pointers. Kayzzin McDowell added 10 points and 4 rebounds, while Malakhi Stremlow contributed eight points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Makhi Rivers also chipped in eight points and 8 rebounds. As a team, Newberry grabbed 32 rebounds and shot 50 percent from the free-throw line.

The Wolves will return home for their final regular season home game on Wednesday, February 25 at 7:30 p.m.
