COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Gamecocks adds another play maker for starting quarterback LeNorris Sellers. Four-star wide receiver prospect Donovan Murph announced hos commitment to the Gamecocks during the 2025 Under Armour All-American game on last week.
Murph played his high school ball at Irmo High School in Irmo, South Carolina. The six-foot-two dynamic play maker is the no. 182 prospect in the 2025 ESPN 300 and entered last Thursday as the no. 2 uncommitted prospect in the 2025 cycle. He is now the sixth ESPN 300 prospect to join a talented Gamecocks ‘25 recruiting class.
After coming one of their best seasons in school history, the Gamecocks’ expectations for 2025 will be through the roof despite a bit of let down in their bowl game loss to Illinois.
Murph caught 96 passes for 1,328 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. He was initially apart of the 2026 recruiting class, but decided to reclassify in the fall. He is listed as the fourth overall prospect in the state and joins a loaded class. South Carolina is currently listed as the no.20 class in the country, according to 247 Sports.
“South Carolina was the school that stayed consistent with me,” Murph told ESPN. “All fall they were showing me love and letting me know they believed in my talent. That played a big role in my recruitment.”
Murph grew up a life long Gamecocks’ fan and even posted an old picture of him and his father rocking South Carolina football jerseys.
He will join fellow top-300 pass catchers Jordon Gidron (No. 129 overall), Malik Clark (No. 178) and Lex Cyrus (No. 292). Also, four-star wide receiver Brian Rowe and three-star pass catcher Jayden Sellers also signed with the Gamecocks during last month’s early signing period. Newberry County’s very own Jamel Howse will add to the pass catching depth in 2026 as he announced his commitment to the Gamecocks this fall.
“I like the direction they’re heading in,” said Murph. “They’re trending up. They continue to get better and better. I think I can add to that and be a play maker who makes an impact early.”
