ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Newberry College baseball team has three members earning all-conference honors along with one all-defense honor announced by the South Atlantic Conference office on May 2.

Junior outfielder Donovan Ford was named first team all-SAC along with gaining all-defensive honors as a center fielder.

Junior right hander Hunter French, and senior right hander Matias Marchesini were named third team all-SAC starting pitchers.

Ford led the team with the SAC’s second highest .431 batting average and posted the league’s most 29 stolen bases on the season. Ford won two statistical championships averaging the most triples per game and stolen bases per game.

Marchesini threw in 15 appearances starting in six games for the Wolves. Marchesini worked his way into the Friday starter role earning two SAC pitcher of the week honors.

French threw in 14 appearances for the Wolves with 11 starts finishing his regular season with a 5-3 record striking out 30 hitters with an era of 4.86.

The Wolves earned the six seed in the upcoming South Atlantic Conference tournament as they will face the Bulldogs of Wingate University tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
