NEWBERRY — Newberry Academy will continue their historic season as they advanced to the District Semi-Finals round after beating King Academy in a three game series.
The Eagles and the Knights needed every single game to decide on who would advance to the semi-finals. The Eagles took game one of the series with a 24-10 dominating win at home. It was the most runs scored all season by Newberry Academy.
Game two was at King Academy and they took full advantage of being at home. The Knights easily won by the score of 11-1 to even the series.
The third and final game was played at Newberry Academy on Thursday afternoon. It was a defensive battle for most of the game, but the Eagles were able to find a way to capture some of their offensive magic from game one. The Knights coudln’t recapture some of their offense from game two. Their defense and pitching was strong enough to get the job done but it still wasn’t enough.
Newberry Academy held on to win the series and will now face the number one seed in the district, Holy Hill. Game one of the series will be at Holy Hill on Monday, May 6th. First pitch will be at 6:00 p.m. Game two will be on May 7th at Newberry Academy. First pitch for game two will be at 4:00 p.m.
Congratulations to the Newberry Academy Eagles and good luck in the district semi-final round.
