Lady Wolverines fall to High Point, Dixie

WHITMIRE — The Lady Wolverines varsity basketball team hosted High Point Monday evening, in the last home game of the season, falling 53-27.

It was also Senior Night and Raegan Kendrick, Jordyn Brooks, and Harleigh McLaren were each celebrated.

“The girls came out playing really well, but got sloppy with the ball and were having cases of the drops and High Point took advantage. The girls did a good job of adjusting and fighting back and cut the lead almost in half in the third quarter, but could never make up enough ground. It was another really good defensive night for the girls and I have been excited to see the change in mindset on that end of the floor,” said Head Coach Chaz Adams.

The Lady Wolverines were led in scoring by Raegan Kendrick with 12 points. Alexus Sanders added seven, Harleigh McLaren four, Janiyah Epps and Jordyn Brooks two.

The Lady Wolverines were also led in rebounding by Raegan Kendrick with 12. Jordyn Brooks added seven, Alexus Sanders and Harleigh McLaren six, Janiyah Epps three, Leanna Eison one.

Kendrick also had a double-double on the evening.

The Lady Wolverines hosted the Lady Hornets of Dixie Friday night in a region match-up and had a back and forth affair with them all night, falling 35-32.

“The girls played hard and had some things that didn’t go their way in an emotional fourth quarter, which led to the Lady Wolverines losing the lead and, unfortunately, the game. I am extremely proud of how we played defensively and our effort has been tremendous,” Adams said.

Whitmire was led in scoring by Alexus Sanders with 15 points. Leanna Eison added 11, Raegan Kendrick three, Janiyah Epps two, Jordyn Brooks one.

Ashelyn King led the team in rebounding with nine. Alexus Sanders added four, Jordyn Brooks, Savannah Johnson and Raegan Kendrick three, Harleigh McLaren two, and Leanna Eison, Samantha Strubeck, Montasia Vanlue one.
