WHITMIRE — The Lady Wolverines varsity softball team traveled back to Lamar on Wednesday for the District Championship. The Lady Wolverines would have to beat Lamar twice to win the District. However, the Wolverines came up short in a 5-1 loss. The loss eliminated the Wolverines from the playoffs.
During the game the Wolverines were only able to register one hit, which was a double by Kymberlee Jenkins in the top of the seventh. The Lamar pitcher was hitting her spots and pitching extremely well throughout the game. Defensively the Wolverines played a better game, but still committed four errors. Kimberly Kendrick pitched really well throughout the game.
“It was a tough way to finish the season, but looking forward the Wolverines will bring back 15 of the 17 girls. Thank you all for a great season and we are already looking forward to next year,” said Head Coach Andrew Campbell.
