During the month of December, we were able to provide the fifth Annual Santa’s Workshop and Storytime with Mrs. Claus. In conjunction with the City of Newberry’s Main Street Lights, we are able to provide children a free craft and a story read by Mrs. Claus each Friday leading up to Christmas. We thank our sponsors, elves, and the three Mrs. Clauses for helping make this event successful!
In partnership with the City of Newberry and Clemson Extension, we were pleased to kick off another class of Jr. Leadership Newberry County. City of Newberry Mayor Foster Senn began the program six years ago, and as of last year, Clemson Extension and the Chamber were able to join them to expand the program for 11th and 12th graders throughout the county. We look forward to introducing the high-schoolers to different areas of the county and especially highlighting leadership skills.
The Leadership Newberry County Class III met for “Emergency and Law Enforcement Day.” The class learned about county-wide emergency services, heard from various leaders in law enforcement, and learned about various equipment used in response to accidents.
In partnership with The Old Newberry Hotel, we are hosting “A Newberry New Year” on Dec. 31. We look forward to ringing in 2020 in the immaculately renovated space!
In Newberry County Young Professional news, they are currently accepting nominations for the 4 Under 40 awards. If you know an exceptional person who lives and/or works in Newberry County between ages 21 and 40, nominations will be accepted through Dec. 31. Winners will be revealed at the Legacy Gala on Feb. 7. For tickets to this popular event, visit their Facebook page, Eventbrite, or contact us at the Chamber.
The Newberry County Chamber of Commerce will hold our Annual Banquet on Jan. 16. We will enjoy a meal, recap 2019, kick-off 2020, feature a panel discussion of local manufacturing managers, and honor our Ambassador of the Year. Contact us for additional details and tickets.
