NEWBERRY — George Donald Fulmer and Rebecca (Becky) Wise were married in 1947 at St. James Lutheran Church in Newberry. On June 15, 2017, they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

The couple met in 1944 in Chapin when a friend introduced the two. Donald was home on leave from the Navy and Becky was a teacher at the school there. After being married, they made their home in Columbia where Donald worked for the U.S. Post Office for 36 years.

Becky was a stay at home mother until their youngest child started school at which time she returned to the workplace. She spent many years working at Wilbur Smith and Associates in Columbia.

They have two children: Angela Fulmer Brown (Willard Brown) of Rock Hill and Don Fulmer (Becky Rutledge Fulmer) of Chapin. They have four grandchildren: Ryan Brown (Lisa), Leah Vaughn (David), Kelly Beasley (Chris), and Dawn Jennings (Tripp). They are also Meme and Granddaddy to five great-grandchildren: Ryan Brown Jr., Jaden Brown, Rhett Vaughn, Aiden Jennings, and TJ Jennings.

Donald and Becky have made Columbia their home for the majority of their married life.
