NEWBERRY — The Newberry Opera House Foundation, along with the NOH Guild and Ambassadors, will host a reception for Deborah Smith, current executive director, to honor her for her work with the Opera House.
“Deborah Smith Appreciation Day” will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 23 in Memorial Park, 1201 McKibben St. The community is invited to attend. Smith is the only executive director in the history of the Newberry Opera House.
The groups wanted to honor Smith for her career as the executive director of the NOH and for her many contributions to the cultural and economic growth of Newberry.
Molly Fortune, named the new executive director after a national search, served as the Restoration and Operations Director for the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Ga., for 15 years.
