NEWBERRY – The Newberry Wolves fought hard but fell 17-12 to Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday afternoon. Despite trailing throughout the game, the Wolves showed great resilience and kept the contest competitive.

Newberry battled through a tough first half, with the score standing at 12-6 in favor of the Bears at the break. Lenoir-Rhyne pulled ahead in the second half, outscoring the Wolves by five points in the third quarter, but the Bears were held scoreless in the final quarter. Newberry scored six points in the second half, but was unable to close the gap.

Ayden Snow led the offense with four goals, while Andrew Marks added three points.

Defensively, Ben McMullen recorded seven saves, while Brian Lake made key contributions with three caused turnovers and three ground balls.

With the loss, Newberry’s record moves to 8-5 overall and 5-2 in SAC play. The Wolves will return to action on Wednesday with a road matchup against Mars Hill. Faceoff is set for 12:00 PM.
