NEWBERRY — In an effort to enhance the gameday environment and improve the fan experience for those attending football games, Newberry College has created premium tailgating and parking spots around Setzler Field in addition to the traditional Newberry College Athletic Club Parking Lots.

Parking spots are in the lots on Wolves Way (formerly Cemetery Drive) next to the stadium and in the Walker Hall parking lot. The spots offer a tremendous tailgating opportunity and a close proximity to the stadium. No charge parking will still be available at Oakland Mill and the Smith Road Complex where a shuttle will run every 15 minutes. No charge parking is also available at the Alumni Music Center, Shop Around the Corner, Science and Math Building and Lee Atwater Field.

The additional revenue raised from the selling of parking spots will help offset the rising cost of college athletics and directly fund the scholarships that assist in educating student-athletes.

Tailgating spots in the stadium lot are $250 for the season or $50 per game and “Stadium Wall” parking spots are $125 or $25 per game. The season long tailgating spots are for one year and non-renewable. Availability for these spots are offered after parking is assigned to all members of the Newberry College Athletic Club.

For renewable parking spots, members of the Newberry College Athletic Club at the Bronze Level or higher receive parking on an annual basis.

For more information or to purchase a spot contact Sharon Bryant at [email protected] or 803-321-5252.

Concessions

Newberry College has also revamped concessions and fan activities during home football games entering the 2015 home schedule. The change was implemented in an effort to enhance the gameday atmosphere and overall fan experience.

New concessions offerings include a Newberry local favorite – Zesto hot dogs and hamburgers in the main stand. The main stand will also carry the “Guaranteed Worst in Town” Cromer’s peanuts and popcorn in addition to the candy, nachos, chips and Coca-Cola products that were already available during games.

New corporate sponsor Chick-fil-A of Ballentine products will also be available for purchase inside the football stadium. Additionally, an Italian Ice vendor will be located inside the stadium at each home game. Various food trucks offering chicken wings, fries and other items will be parked near the stadium providing fans with a premium food option as well this season at most home games.

Also new this year at home football games will be the Scar’s Kid’s Club Zone presented by Sonic of Newberry located on the practice field by the stadium and Walker Hall. The Scar’s Kid’s Club Zone presented by Sonic of Newberry will be open two and a half hours prior to kick off until 30 minutes before kickoff. Every child who comes to the Scar’s Kid’s Club Zone presented by Sonic of Newberry will receive a coupon for a kid’s meal at Sonic of Newberry.

A Newberry College tradition continues with the Pep Rally featuring the Newberry College Scarlet Spirit Marching Band, the Newberry College Cheerleaders and the Newberry College Scarlet Poms Dance Team that will begin one hour prior to kick off on the Yost Portico outside of Holland Hall and the fountain circle.
