NEWBERRY – The academic year has concluded for Newberry College Athletics with 100 spring graduates, including undergraduate and graduate students and achieving a department grade point average of 3.02 for the spring semester and 3.07 for the 2023-24 academic year.
Nineteen of the department’s 22 programs achieved at least a 3.0 team grade point average for the spring semester while 16 achieved at least a 3.0 for the academic year.
Our women’s field hockey team led the spring semester with a 3.70 team grade point average while our men’s golf team was the top team for the academic year with a 3.711 team grade point average.
Ten programs had at least a 3.4 team grade point average during the spring semester including field hockey, men’s golf (3.64), softball (3.56), baseball (3.51), women’s triathlon (3.49), volleyball (3.47), women’s soccer (3.46), women’s tennis (3.45), men’s soccer (3.45), and women’s basketball (3.41).
Ten programs also topped the 3.4 team grade point average for the academic year including men’s golf, women’s golf (3.59), women’s basketball (3.55), women’s tennis (3.53), softball (3.53), volleyball (3.49), women’s triathlon (3.48), baseball (3.48), field hockey (3.45), and women’s soccer (3.45).
These 18 student-athletes graduated with honors this spring.
