NEWBERRY — Newberry Academy had their first win of the season against Cambridge Academy by a score of 38-18 during the Eagles Homecoming game.
Newberry Academy was first to score thanks to a touchdown by Dustin Hendrix, and with a successful two-point conversion by Zach May the Eagles led in the first quarter.
Cambridge scored with two minutes left in the first quarter, but the kick was blocked by Newberry. Cambridge scored again with seconds left in the first quarter, and they took a 12-8 lead going into the second quarter.
In the second quarter May scored a touchdown, and followed it up with a two-point conversion, taking the lead back from Cambridge. Ben Lindsay was able to get a new touchdown shortly after, but the two-point conversion was no good.
The Eagles went into halftime leading 22-12.
Newberry increased their lead in the third quarter thanks to May getting another touchdown, and with a two-point conversion from Ian Roberts their lead increased 30-12.
Going into the fourth Cambridge got the last touchdown of the night, but the two-point conversion was no good.
Neither team was able to score for the rest of the night, and Newberry Academy won 38-18.
