NEWBERRY — Three of the Newberry men’s soccer players donated their time at Pontiac Elementary School in Elgin earlier this season for the school’s annual Fall Festival.
The Fall Festival at Pontiac Elementary is put on each year for all students, faculty and parents to welcome students and their families.
Sophomores Mark Hoog, David Jones and Jonathan Saullo were among the Wolves soccer players who donated their time.
The players helped out with many things throughout the day including leading games, handing out prizes, and speaking with students about being a college student-athlete.
Karen Saullo, one of the teachers at Pontiac Elementary who helped organize the event, is also the older sister of soccer player Jonathan Saullo.
Newberry men’s soccer head coach Bryce Cooper was very excited about the opportunity for his players to help the local community.
“All in all, the event was very well received, and the players did a fantastic job,” said Cooper. “We enjoy helping out the community and making a positive impact on people’s lives especially when it comes to being around young people and helping them in any way we can. We look forward to helping out at Pontiac Elementary again in the future.”
