NEWBERRY COUNTY — Deputy Sheriff Daniel Corey Claytor of the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office recently graduated from the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy.

Claytor recently completed a 12-week Basic Law Enforcement Training Program term at the Academy on May 29 and is now a Class I Certified S.C. Law Enforcement Officer.

A lifetime resident of Newberry County, Claytor began working with the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer with the Newberry County Detention Center in January 2013. Claytor is a 2011 graduate of Whitmire High School where he also received an advanced diploma in welding.

Claytor is the son of William and Tammy Claytor of Whitmire and younger brother of Sgt. Michael Claytor, also of the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office.
