Some of the artwork displays at ARTabilities. Pieces were judged in five categories and first, second and third place ribbons were presented. Thirty eight pieces were on display.
Eight Little Ladies by Bernice Gary was judged the Best in Show. Theresa Halfacre served as the judge for the event.
Open House gave businesses and members of the community the occasion to visit Newberry Industries and observe the work and services provided by the NI employees. Artist Bernice Gary was the winner of numerous ribbons as well as the Best in Show. Bernice is shown with Bob Jones, executive director of Newberry County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, as Jones congratulates Gary on her performance.
Newberry County Disabilities and Special Needs Board held an Open House and Art Show on March 22. The artists kicked off ARTabilities in front of a “hand” made banner decorated with handprints from the consumers at Newberry DSN Board. Artists included Michael Strong, Sarah Sims, Eric Tobe, Michael Hines, Bernice Gary, Ashley Anderson, Billy Frye, Azizi Johnson – Mitchell, Cathy Vaughn, Shnora Werts, Teddy Ellerbee, John Pat Williams, Justin Moates, Pam Pruitt, Linda Faye Singleton, Brandon Woodward, Kwame Johnson, Angie Palmer, Nakesha Jessie, and Vickie Boyd.
