NEWBERRY COUNTY — The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office and SLED (State Law Enforcement Division) are on the scene of an attempted robbery and shooting incident on Highway 34, near the intersection of Mary’s Road.
The incident occurred just after 11:30 a.m. today.
Two suspects fled the scene after the incident, according to a release from NCSO. The release further states that both suspects were wearing Halloween type masks during the incident. The NCSO also states that it is believed both suspects were black males, but no further description is available at this time. The suspects possibly fled in a green older model SUV, possibly an Explorer or Tahoe, but this is not certain at this time — according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Bloodhounds and a helicopter are being utilized at the scene of the incident.
The victim has been transported to the hospital and there are no updates on his condition at this time.
