NEWBERRY — Meinolf Muhr, president of MM Technics, recently announced an expansion of his Newberry County facility — a $6 million dollar investment with 35 new jobs.

This expansion was announced as the company was celebrating their two year anniversary. Muhr credits their expansion to their major customers.

“It was our major customers, BMW in Spartanburg, I guess we had a really successful start-up of our Greenville project — that gave us a chance to expand two years later after our grand opening,” he said.

MM Technics is an American subsidiary of the automotive supplier Muhr Metalltechnik.

In celebration of their anniversary, MM Technics hosted a private party in Community Hall during the Newberry Oktoberfest. When comparing Oktoberfest in Munich, German to the one in Newberry — Muhr joked that the weather was similar during the day — cold any raining.

“The atmosphere in Newberry, I appreciate that it is a little bit local, and you know so much hospitality of the folks,” he said. “Hosting a private party because of the second anniversary of MM Technics, invited all our staff, friends, and partners. I appreciate I can host all these guys, did it last year for the first time. I’m the only German investor in Newberry County, so I feel a little bit responsible for Newberry Oktoberfest.”
