NEWBERRY — A new business in Newberry is hoping to promote wellness and give patients a higher quality of a life without aches and pains.
Carolina HealthChoice, 2041 Medical Park Drive, Newberry, was officially welcomed into the community during a ribbon cutting ceremony on March 5.
Owners Rinzee and Pamela Stansberry felt that opening their business in Newberry would have a benefit on everyone in the community.
“We think the treatment is revolutionary, it’s two-fold. A we were fearful of the opioid epidemic coming into Newberry and we wanted an option that would allow patients to deal with the chronic pain without having any addiction problems, that was the first reason,” said Rinzee Stansberry. “Second reason is I’m a pastor at a local church, we saw the need in our church and I figured if we had the need in our church we would also have the need in the community, we want to make this service available.”
Stansberry added some of the conditions they treat include sciatica, carpal tunnel, tarsal tunnel, peripheral neuropathy and slipped discs to name a few.
“Things of that nature that are chronically wrong where the nerve can be treated itself. If the nerve is dead there is nothing you can do for a dead nerve, but if the nerve can be regenerated or needs oxygen we can stimulate it,” he said.
Carolina HealthChoice accepts all insurance with prices tied to the insurance. Stansberry said you do not need a referral to come see them.
“It’s starts with an evaluation, there is no cost for that, we bring you in and do a physical on you, we try to understand what your problem is. We do a nerve conduction study, see if you’re getting a blood supply to that area and if you are a good candidate then we’ll schedule an appointment for you. If you can’t pay we will schedule a payment plan for you as well,” he said.
He added that by finding out what is wrong and having it treated, patients will be able to do things as they normally would without pain.
“We believe that if you deal with pain the person can be more mobile, once a person is in pain they’re not exercising, they’re not walking, not moving and are sedentary and all the problems that come with that. We can deal with the pain to get them more active, we give them their lives back, that’s the main benefit. They get to play with their kids, run with their grand-kids, get to go to the mall, take vacations, wake up, we think it’s improving the overall quality of life.,” he said.

UPDATE: A clarification was published in the April 13 edition of The Newberry Observer which states that Callister Hill will be the on site nurse practitioner who will oversee patients at Carolina HealthChoice.
