NEWBERRY — The Newberry Academy Eagles will face off against the Richard Winn Academy Eagles during the Academy’s first home game of the season.

The Academy is currently 0-2, while Richard Winn is 2-1.

Richard Winn is a spread offensive team, and the Academy will have to play disciplined, according to Head Coach Benji Sease.

“If they get you out of position it can go for six quick,” he said.

Tonight’s game is the first home game for the Eagles. Sease said that anytime you play at home it will give you some advantage. Richard Winn likes to use their speed to beat their opponent, but they can line up in some power stuff, and play.

The Academy has been working on trying to get a little better on both sides of the ball this week, and getting better and doing the little things.

Sease said once they work on the little things, the big things will work themselves out.

During tonight’s game Sease said they will be balanced when it comes to throwing, and running the ball. He said their philosophy is for them to be 50/50 and be balanced.

The Eagles have suffered a few injuries, Daniel Bannister had a knee injury, Matthew Cole an ankle injury and Johnny Riggs hurt his hamstring. However, Sease said all of them should be able to play this week.

Tonight’s game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. at the Academy.
