September Recap:
The Workforce Development Council held a Human Resource Forum at the beginning of the month. Sponsored by SC Department of Commerce, HR mangers discussed issues facing them and ways to address those issues.
Judy Wicker of Wicker’s Greenhouse and Nursery sponsored the month’s Lunch ‘N Learn. Always a popular draw, Judy talked with the attendees about gardening and landscaping.
The 23rd annual Newberry County Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament was held at Mid Carolina Club this year. Congratulations to Big Gun Robotics on their win. Coming in second place was Vets With A Mission/Wells Fargo and in third were two players representing Gallman Personnel Services, along with individual players Mike Meadow and Justin Christley.
The Newberry County Young Professionals held a Leadership Happy Hour sponsored by Pope & Hudgens, Zimmerman & Shealy, and Newberry Business Alliance. After the happy hour of food and beverages, the group was led in a discussion on leadership by Charles Weather of The Weathers Group.

Agape Senior will sponsor Lunch ‘N Learn on Oct. 14 at noon and discuss their services. Contact us at your Chamber to reserve your spot. There will be a $10 charge for this event.
Something new that we are offering this year will be a Pumpkin Decorating Party for children up to age 12. On Sunday, Oct. 18 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., bring the children to town square in downtown Newberry in front of Community Hall. Pumpkins and decorating supplies will be provided for the first 100 children to decorate and take home.
Park Sterling Bank will sponsor and host the Business After Hours on Tuesday, Oct. 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. All current and prospective Chamber members are welcome to attend. You will enjoy food, beverages, and door prizes while talking with
Newberry’s Oktoberfest has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, to include the 14th annual Liver Nips Cook-Off. The rain may have postponed this fabulous event, but you can be sure to find your favorite German food and beverage in a couple of weeks.
