Newberry Rotary Club hosted 17 Scouts from Troop 1 and Troop 316 at Newberry Airport to teach them about flying. Sam Hart and Scott Cain taught two classes to local area Scouts earning the Scouts Aviation Merritt Badges. Over a two week period, using a Cessna 172 aircraft and current aeronautical charts and plotters, the Scouts were taught the fundamentals of aviation from how and why an aircraft flies, instruments and controls used in flying to aeronautical chart reading and in-flight navigation.
