NEWBERRY — After one of the most dominant freshman pitching seasons in program history, Newberry baseball’s Nick Riedel has been named a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Third Team All-American.

Riedel becomes one of just five student-athletes from the South Atlantic Conference to earn NCBWA All-America recognition this season, while also representing Newberry on the national stage following a stellar debut campaign.

The freshman right-hander was nearly untouchable throughout the 2026 season, posting a perfect 10-0 record across 14 appearances on the mound. Riedel finished the year with a 2.60 ERA while striking out 74 batters, consistently delivering for the Wolves in key moments throughout the season.

In addition to his All-America honors, Riedel was recently named the South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year after emerging as one of the top young pitchers in Division II baseball.

Riedel’s standout season helped lead Newberry to another strong campaign and adds his name among the program’s top freshman performers in recent history.
