CHAPIN — The National Commander of the American Legion will visit American Legion Post 193 on March 2 to meet with local American Legion members.

Dale Barnett, of Douglasville, Ga., will meet with members, state legislators, town and county officials as well as members of the community from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the American Legion Post 193, 102 Lexington Ave. in Chapin.

Barnett is a retired U.S. Army Officer and member of The American Legion Department of Georgia. The American Legion is the nation’s largest Veterans Service Organization.

The American Legion is the nation’s leading advocate for a strong national defense and fair benefits for military members, Veterans and their families. The American Legion is alarmed at defense cuts the organization believes endanger national security and make the military a less attractive option for those considering careers in an all-volunteer force.

The American Legion strongly believes America has an obligation to serve its Veterans as well as Veterans have served America. For more about The American Legion, visit www.legion.org .
