NEWBERRY — The Newberry Observer will be going to two days a week, effective Dec. 23, 2017. This change will allow for more local news, and local sports coverage in future editions.

“We will no longer be publishing on Monday, but will move Friday to Saturday morning to better serve the community with good local news and local sports. Wednesday will remain the same,” said Denny Koenders, publisher of The Newberry Observer.

With this day pattern change, rates here at The Observer will change as well. Rates will now be $60 for one year subscriptions or $30 for six months. Customers who renewed their subscriptions at the standard rate of $78.98 will be prorated.

“This will extend the original expiration on your account. If you have any questions please call the Circulation Department at 803-768-3118,” said Leesa Chavis, regional circulation director.

Other changes coming to The Newberry Observer will include a page from Newberry College, as well as an editorial page from the Newberry County Chamber of Commerce. Koenders said this will continue to help readers stay informed of what is going on in Newberry County, and surrounding areas.

“We welcome each and every one of you to help us with good local news content by alerting us to any activities in the community that you feel is important to you, our readers. Our goal is to offer you the most informative local newspaper in the market and this type of movement will enable us to do just that,” he said.

For any editorial or advertising needs, contact Koenders at 803-768-3117 or Andrew Wigger, editor, at 803-768-3122.
