CLINTON — A Newberry College graduate has been named president-elect of the S.C. Pharmacy Association for the 2016-2017 year.
Dr. Kayce Shealy, associate professor of pharmacy practice at the Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy, will be installed as president of the association at its 141st convention held at Hilton Head in June 2017.
Shealy holds a bachelor of science degree from Newberry College and a doctor of pharmacy from the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy.
“I believe the South Carolina Pharmacy Association truly represents all pharmacists, technicians, and student pharmacists in the state,” Shealy said. “There are many opportunities for us to capitalize on the depth and breadth of our diverse membership to continue to maintain our current status as the most trusted healthcare professionals, as well as continue to work to progress our profession forward.”
Shealy also has completed a community pharmacy residency with the University of Georgia at Barney’s Pharmacy in Augusta, Ga.
In her role at the Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy, she is the interim Chair of Pharmacy Practice, the advisor for the American Pharmacists Association-Academy of Student Pharmacists and coordinates several classes including the required self-care course.
Shealy has been involved with SCPhA since she was a pharmacy student, having chaired the continuing education committee for the past two years, and most recently served as the organization’s speaker of the House of Delegates.
Founded in 1876, the SCPhA serves its members by ensuring that all pharmacists be adequately trained, educated, and properly licensed to offer quality pharmaceutical services to the public, and to constantly strive for the advancement of the pharmacy profession.
