PROSPERITY — Newberry County Recreation, in conjunction with the YMCA, completed another year of Coaches’ pitch play in Prosperity on June 8. Seven teams made up the league, sponsored by community businesses and industries and included youth ages 6-9.
The team sponsored by Prosperity Metal Recycling, led by Coaches Benji Sease and Fred Hayward, was named the champion after defeating the team sponsored by Saulsbury Industries in the tournament championship game. The PMR team completed the regular season with a 10-2 record and swept through tournament play three consecutive nights to finish 13-2 overall.
