PROSPERITY, S.C. — Treyvon ‘TJ’ Smith Jr. announced last week on social media that he would be taking his talents to Gray Collegiate. The 6-foot-6 class of 2030 big man dominated for the Rebels varsity boys’ basketball team as an eighth grader. He averaged 12.2 points per game, 9.6 rebounds per game, 1.7 steals and 1.4 block per game last season. He led the Rebels in points, rebounds, blocks and steals en route to a 10-15 record and a playoffs appearance in AA. He also was one of two Rebels to be named all-region last season.
Smith name received a lot of buzz this summer as he participated in the Nike Junior EYBL Academy, played in the UCAAG underclass all-American game and played at high level on the AAU summer basketball circuit this summer. This is a huge loss for Mid-Carolina as the Rebels’ fans looked forward to seeing the one-two punch of Smith and Landen Wicker in year two of them playing together.
