NEWBERRY COUNTY — Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster was honored with the Community Legacy Award during a banquet hosted by the Omicron Lambda Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, recognizing his longstanding dedication to public service and commitment to the residents he serves.

The celebration was held on the campus of Newberry College and brought together community leaders, family members, and supporters for an evening highlighting service, leadership, and community impact.

Also receiving awards during the ceremony were Earlean Williams Boles, Freddie Chalmers, and Sandra Elizabeth Davis Riley, each recognized for their meaningful contributions and service to the community.

Also in attendance was Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers, a teammate and close friend of Chalmers. Rogers was also a classmate of Foster’s while at The University of South Carolina.

The Community Legacy Award is presented to individuals whose leadership, integrity, and sustained service leave a lasting and positive impact on the people and communities they serve.

“This recognition means more to me than I can fully express,” Foster said. “To be honored by an organization with such a strong legacy of service and scholarship is truly humbling. I’ve always believed that serving others is both a duty and a privilege, and I share this honor with the dedicated men and women I work alongside every day and the community we are proud to serve.”

The Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity is an international brotherhood founded on the principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service, with chapters across the nation committed to uplifting their communities through civic engagement and leadership.
