Law Enforcement searching for suspect who fled deputies in Holland’s Landing

UPDATE: The suspect has been taken into custody.

NEWBERRY — The Newberry County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect who fled from a stolen vehicle in the area of Holland’s Landing in the Prosperity section of Newberry County.

The suspect is described as a white male who is 19 years of age, approximately 6 foot tall and weighing around 130 pounds with red hair. He was wearing a white shirt and red shorts. The suspect is possibly from Florida and had given non law enforcement witnesses the name Tyler Adams. The suspect had a bag with him when he fled and may have a change of clothes in the bag.

Deputies were called to the scene of a suspicious vehicle this morning on Landing Road at approximately 8:45 a.m. The suspect in the vehicle fled the scene on foot. The deputies gave chase, but the suspect eluded them. The vehicle was determined to be stolen from Myrtle Beach. Law enforcement has taken custody of the vehicle. The tag on the vehicle was the wrong tag and it had been stolen from a vehicle in Mt. Pleasant.

Newberry County Sheriff’s Office bloodhounds are on scene and SLED helicopter and bloodhounds are also on the way.

Residents in the area are encouraged to be on the lookout for this suspect. They are also encouraged to remove all keys from their vehicles and lock them since the suspect has already stolen at least one vehicle.

Anyone who sees this suspect should call 911 immediately. Updates will be issued as they become available.
