NEWBERRY — Rashon Tyrone Alstone is still being sought by the Newberry Police Department for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, from an incident that occurred in March.

On March 10, at approximately 6:18 p.m., officers with the Newberry Police Department responded to 1430 Drayton Street for a complaint of gun shots in the area. When they arrived, they were advised that a man, located in Willowbrook Park, had been shot by Alstone after a physical altercation.

The victim sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the left side of his torso, and he was transported to Palmetto Richland Trauma Center.

Through the investigation, officers believe Alstone was in an altercation that led to the shooting on Drayton Street near the Quick Stop convenience store. Alstone fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival to the area. Warrants have been issued for his arrest.

Police Chief Roy McClurkin asks that if anyone has any information that could lead to Alstone’s whereabouts, please contact Newberry Police at 803-321-2222 or Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. All tips will remain anonymous.

This is still an active case by the Newberry Police Department.
