ROCK HILL — Keito Jordon headlined a group of four Newberry players named All-South Atlantic Conference, garnering a first team selection while Deshun Kitchings, Tyler Anderson and Travis Morgan each earned second team accolades.

Keito Jordon – First Team Defensive Line

The senior from Hopkins is making his second appearance on the all-conference first team after receiving the honor following the 2017 season. He totaled 57 tackles on the season, ranking fourth on the team, but was best known for his work in the backfield. Jordon ranked second in the SAC with 16 tackles for loss and fourth with 8.5 sacks. He also added a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and a pass breakup to his team-high 11 quarterback hurries.

Jordon’s four tackles for loss against Florida Tech ranked among the top 10 single-game performances in school history. He also ranks fourth in Newberry history with 37.5 career tackles for loss and sixth with 19.5 sacks despite playing just three seasons in Scarlet and Gray. His inclusion on the first team gives Newberry seven consecutive seasons with at least one first team defensive lineman.

Deshun Kitchings – Second Team Wide Receiver

Kitchings had a breakout sophomore campaign as the favorite target of Colton Bailey and Dre Harris. The sophomore from Aiken finished second in the SAC with 726 yards on 39 receptions and caught four touchdowns, two of which came on the longest pass plays of the 2019 season at 64 and 63 yards.

The sophomore Aiken native averaged nearly 19 yards per reception and ranked third in the league with 66 yards per game. His 178 yards on six catches at Wingate were tied for the eighth-most in a single game in school history. He also added 71 rushing yards and a touchdown on seven carries.

Tyler Anderson – Second Team Offensive Line

Anderson, also a second team selection in 2017, has started all 11 games this season and played in 44 games as a mainstay on Newberry’s offensive line.

A versatile player, the senior from Anderson has started at nearly every position along the line in his career, including the first six games of the season at center before alternating between left tackle and center over the second half of the season. He helped pave the way for four 100-yard rushers this season, including Chance Walker’s school record-setting 261 yard performance at Catawba that included a conference record six touchdowns. The Wolves’ 432 rushing yards and 589 total yards in that game were the second- and fifth-highest totals of the last 20 years, respectively.

Travis Morgan – Second Team Long Snapper

Morgan, in his fifth year of eligibility after graduating in May, was incredibly consistent at the long snapper position this season. He didn’t have a poor snap all season, and as the only long snapper on the travel roster, gritted through an injury suffered during the game at Wingate to give the Wolves a viable option at the position.

Morgan’s All-SAC selection is Newberry’s fifth all-time at the long snapper position and fourth this decade.
