NEWBERRY — The Newberry High School Bulldogs defeated the Emerald High School Vikings by a score of 31-21 Friday night.

With less than five minutes in the first quarter, the Bulldogs recorded the first points of the night with the score at 3-0. Before halftime, the Bulldogs would add a touchdown and successful PAT to the board — the score 10-0.

At the half, the Vikings found the end zone for the first time during the contest — the extra point was no good, the score 17-6 heading into the locker rooms.

Coming back from halftime, the Bulldogs and Vikings both added touchdowns to the board, the score now 24-6. In an attempt to catch up to the Bulldogs, the Vikings would add two more touchdowns bringing the score to 24-21 with 3:40 left to play.

The Bulldogs made a touchdown a final time during the contest resulting in the Bulldogs’ 31-21 victory.

The Bulldogs will hit the road next week to take on Clinton High School.
