NEWBERRY COUNTY — At Mid-Carolina – Mid-Carolina Junior team came up short 4-2 to Lancaster in game one of their best of three series on Monday.
At Greer – Chapin-Newberry lost by one to Greer 6-5.
Jarrett Whitley and Kelson Palmer had solo home runs for Chapin-Newberry, but the heroics fell just short in the top of the seventh as Chapin-Newberry was only able to score two runs to make it 6-5. Jackie Stroud led off the top of the seventh with double followed by Jay Kirkland’s RBI single and then Bryce Medlock had an RBI triple. With Medlock on third with two outs Greer’s shortstop was able to go deep in the hole and throw out Kelson Palmer by less than a step to end the game.
