WHITMIRE — The Whitmire junior varsity girls softball team played the JV Hornets from Dixie and lost a tough game. The Wolverines jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before ultimately losing by a score of 14-3. Throughout the game the Wolverines had runners in scoring position, but could never get the big hit to drive in runs. At the Plate the Wolverines registered nine hits and drew two walks. Leading hitters for the game were Olivia Martin, Isabella Gilliam and Bonnie Evans. Martin was 3-3 with one run scored and one RBI. Gilliam was 2-3 with one run scored and one stolen base. Evans was 1-2 with two RBIs. Defensively the Wolverines made the routine plays and did not make many mistakes. Dixie was just able to take advantage of timely hitting. The JV Wolverines will be back in action next week against Clinton.

The Lady Wolverines also beat Sims by a score of 15-8. The Wolverines jumped out to an 11-1 lead in the first inning and held on to secure the first win of the year. Defensively the Wolverines played great throughout the game. Olivia Martin got the win going the distance in the circle for the Wolverines. She did not register any strike outs, but she forced a lot of ground balls. At the plate the Wolverines were led by Janiyah Epps, Raegan Green, and Montasia Vanlue. Epps was 1-1 with two runs scored and three BB. Green was 1-1 with two runs scored and three BB. Vanlue was 1-2 with 2 RBIs.
