NEWBERRY COUNTY — Chapin-Newberry started their run in the State Finals with a Bang as they travelled to Gaffney and brought home a 7-1 victory.

Price Alexander led the offense with two home runs and a single with four RBIs and Tanner Folk contributed two hits and scored twice as well. Deric Hanko pitched a complete game four hitter only throwing 72 pitches for the win. With this win Chapin-Newberry improved to 18-5 on the season and will play Sumter in the 7 p.m. game tonight at Spirit Communications Park in Columbia. Sumter was the winner of the other State Finals game in Florence by the score of 2-1 in eight innings.

Florence will play Gaffney in an elimination game at 4 p.m. prior to the 7 p.m. game. Tickets are eight dollars for adults and five dollars for students and will be available at the gate
