PROSPERITY — The Mid-Carolina Ozone All-Star team finished third in the District Three Dixie Youth Ozone All-Star Tournament held in Edgefield.

The team started with Edgefield on June 22. After holding Edgefield to a small margin for several innings, a few defensive errors allowed Edgefield to win. The team then played Starr/Iva on June 24. Mid-Carolina scored four runs in the first inning and then went scoreless until the fifth inning as Starr/Iva steadily earned runs bringing it to 4-5. In the fifth inning, Trey Toland hit a grand slam for Mid-Carolina bringing the score to 8-5. With one more run coming in the sixth inning for Mid-Carolina resulting in a 9-5 victory.

Mid-Carolina was then slated to face Clinton on June 25, but after multiple weather delays finished the game on June 27. The team had positive pitching performances from Daniel Long and Ross Williams, but could not string together enough hits to tip the scale. The final score was 6-1.

The Mid-Carolina Ozone All-Star team was compromised of the top players from the recreation teams and had three weeks to prepare for the district tournament. The players were coached by Jessie Long, Barney Yoder, and Stephen MacDermott.
