NEWBERRY — Tuesday was another busy night in American Legion baseball and both local teams came away with two more wins. Chapin-Newberry improved to 7-1 in League play with a 13-2 win over West Columbia at Newberry College. Jonathan Bickly got the win on the mound and the offense was led by Aaron Copeland who was 4-4 with four RBIs and a triple, Price Alexander who was 4-4 with two RBIs and a double and a triple, and Jeb Fulmer who was 2-3 with one RBI and a double.
Newberry Junior American Legion travelled to Heathwood Hall to play West Columbia and came away with a 7-3 win. Gunnar Erickson got the win and Blair Rogers got the save. Leading hitters included Jay Kirkland, Ryan Broussard and Bryson Holland. With the win Newberry Junior is now 13-0 overall and 9-0 in League play.
