Four Wolves pick up SAC All-Conference awards

ROCK HILL — Four Wolves pick up honors from the 2017-18 South Atlantic Conference Women’s Tennis All-Conference list. Senior Amanda Carrillo and freshman Elisa Aguirre were named to second team singles, while duo Carrillo and Marta Gomar placed on the second team doubles. Lucia Davila and Elisa Aguirre rounded out the honorees earning an honorable mention in doubles play.

Carrillo finished the regular season with 20 singles victories in the No. 1 spot including going 7-3 during conference action. Highlights from the season include a three-set victory against a nationally-ranked competitor and clinching the program’s first win over a nationally-ranked opponent defeating then-No. 15 Florida Southern. She also garnered a SAC AstroTurf Player of the Week mention on March 5.

Aguirre’s freshman campaign posted 20 singles decisions at the No. 2 position going 7-3 in league competition. Holds a 7-3 record in the past 10 matches and had a five-game win streak during conference schedule.

Pair Marta Gomar and Carrillo touts a 15-6 record, all coming in the No. 1 slot. During conference play they racked up seven wins for the Wolves and have gone 7-3 in their past 10 matches together.

Honorable mention Lucia Davila and Elisa Aguirre earned a combined 20 wins in both the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles spots during the regular season. The duo garnered a team-best 8-2 conference record during the regular season.
