ROCK HILL — The sophomore utility Haley Simonds has tabbed her second 2018 SAC AstroTurf Player of the Week honor for her work behind the plate for Newberry.
Simonds nabbed a hit in at least each of the Wolves’ final four games of the regular season. Her batting average was .545 to end the week with a home run and three doubles. She drove in nine runs, was walked three times, and had a slugging percentage of 1.091.
In the SAC Simonds is fifth in batting average at .414, first in runs batted in at 58, and is in a six-way tie with her teammate Natalie Willis for home runs at six.
Newberry continues their season as the No. 3 seed in the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship. The Wolves will face the No. 6 seeded Royals of Queens University of Charlotte on Friday, Apr. 37 in Anderson at 5:30 p.m.
