PROSPERITY — Even though Mid-Carolina gave up three runs in the fifth inning, they still defeated Chapman 11-3 on Saturday.

“Congratulations to Coach Stribble and his Varsity Baseball Team for winning the 2018 Region Championships. This marks the second straight Region Championship for Varsity Baseball in Coach Stribble’s two seasons as head coach at Mid-Carolina High School,” said Assistant Principal Zeb Reid.

The Rebel’s opened up scoring in the first inning, when an error scored one run. Mid-Carolina notched four runs in the sixth inning. Cade Ruff and Hunter Clinton each drove in runs during the inning.

Hunter Graham took the win for Mid-Carolina. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out six and walking one. Jonathan Bickley threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Bickley recorded the last seven outs to earn the save.

Skye Robinette took the loss for Chapman. He allowed six hits and five runs over four and a third innings, striking out three.

Mid-Carolina collected 11 hits on the day. Ruff, Jalen Bates-Caldwell and Jeb Fulmer all collected multiple hits. Fulmer, Bates-Caldwell, and Ruff each managed two hits to lead the team.
