Rebels defeat Chapman

INMAN — Mid-Carolina Rebels varsity baseball team snatched the lead late in the game in a 13-11 victory over Chapman on Tuesday. Mid-Carolina trailed 6-4 in the top of the sixth inning when Cade Ruff homered on a 1-1 count, scoring four runs.

Despite falling down by seven runs in the seventh inning, Chapman tried to fight back. Chapman scored five runs in the failed comeback on a single by Drake Pike, a sacrifice fly by Dylan Bradley, and a double by Landon Beiler.

The Rebels got things started in the first inning. An error scored one run for Mid-Carolina.

Chapman scored five runs in the seventh inning. Pike, Bradley and Beiler all drove in runs in the frame.

Ruff earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for the Rebels. He allowed four hits and six runs over five innings, striking out eight. Jeb Fulmer threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Fulmer recorded the last six outs to earn the save.

Camron Silva took the loss for Chapman. He surrendered three runs on three hits over one and one-third innings, striking out two.

Austin Parr started the game for Chapman. He surrendered three runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out two.

Mid-Carolina Rebels tallied 13 hits in the game. Ruff, Zach Frick, Jack Lominick and Jacob Wicker all managed multiple hits for Mid-Carolina. Ruff went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Rebels in hits.
