NEWBERRY — The fourth-seeded and No. 24-ranked Wolves dominated in both doubles and singles to earn a 5-1 victory over fifth-seeded Anderson in the opening round of the 2018 South Atlantic Conference men’s tennis tournament.

Anderson took the first doubles match, but the Wolves quickly rebounded with No. 1 Edison Ambarzumjan and Jordan Monosky making quick work of their opponents to take the 8-2 decision. SAC All-Conference duo Nikhil Mannepalli and Angel Pizarro rounded out doubles play with their own 8-3 win to Newberry the 2-1 advantage.

Monosky continued the winning streak for the Wolves in singles action prevailing 6-4, 6-0 in the fifth flight. No. 6 Alex Amble tacked on another point to put the Wolves up 4-1.

With the remaining four matches all going to three sets it was No. 2 Jose Navarro who would clinch the 5-1 win with his 6-7, 6-2, 7-6 thriller.
