NEWBERRY — No. 37 Newberry fell 8-1 to the No. 14 Pioneers to conclude the regular season Saturday.

Newberry finished the regular season with 20-6 win season going 7-3 in league play. The season included a 5-4 victory over then-No. 15 Florida Southern which marked the program’s first win against a nationally-ranked opponent.

Pair Elisa Aguirre and Lucia Davila dropped the match 8-4 at the second doubles flight to put Tusculum on the board 1-0. The Pioneers would never waver and took the remaining two points 8-6 and 8-3 to maintain the 3-0 advantage.

Joelle Huelse won 8-6 in the sixth flight to nab Newberry their lone singles win.
